
We're recruiting a FULL TIME Trainee Quantity Surveyor / Buyer
We're seeking a FULL TIME Trainee Quantity Surveyor / Buyer, to assist our Commercial department and become an integral part of our successful team at our head office in Barnwood, Gloucester.
Whilst receiving all the support and funding you need to achieve an industry recognised qualification, you'll be surrounded by a team of experienced professionals who will provide you with all the training, development and coaching required to carve a successful career within the industry, in addition to earning a competitive salary.
This role would suit someone who is thinking about pursuing a construction related qualification, or who has recently qualified or graduated.
FULL TIME Trainee Quantity Surveyor/Buyer Overview
The position of FULL TIME Trainee Quantity Surveyor / Buyer is to assist in the procurement of labour and materials, and management of commercial aspects of our developments. This includes managing the costs for each site and ensuring that targets are met by managing and controlling budgets. The post is largely office based but you will be required to travel to our development sites as and when required.
Reporting to the Associate Commercial Director, you'll be working with the Commercial team, Site Managers and Construction colleagues, Customer Service, Finance plus Sales and Marketing teams. Externally you'll be working with sub-contractors, suppliers and business partners.
Responsibilities:
- Taking off and scheduling
- Compiling tender enquiries and analysing responses
- Attending pre-order meetings in readiness to place orders
- Processing invoices and payments
- Attend site-based meetings, verify payments, and carry out measurement
- Assisting with material buying
- Resolving queries and assisting with all other day-to-day commercial activities
Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience gained from work placements within a construction or development environment is beneficial but not essential. This is an opportunity for someone looking to start a career and has a flair to succeed within the industry.
- Educated to or working towards A level / BTEC standard or equivalent.
- Achieved or studying for a construction related qualification.
- Strong mathematical and IT skills with the ability to adapt to new systems.
- Motivated and keen to learn new skills.
- Ability to assess and analyse information with a methodical approach and an eye for detail.
- Good communication and teamworking skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
