Zero Carbon homes planned for village of Worton

Newland Homes has bought the Sandleaze Farm site in Worton, which has outline planning permission for up to 26 new homes, up to eight of which will be affordable homes for shared ownership or affordable rent.

The site 5.14 acre site will bring forward a mix of both affordable and family homes to the ever popular village of Worton, near Devizes.

The development site, located south of the High Street, has far reaching views over open countryside and is well placed for good local walks.  The outline planning permission includes green open space and a landscape area for a trim trail, fruit tree planting and extended public footpaths.

The Sandleaze Farm site was granted outline planning permission in December 2021.  Newland Homes will now prepare detailed plans for the site, following the company’s established approach to high quality design, materials, sustainability and ecology.

Newland Homes intends to build its flagship zero carbon homes at Worton.  These homes do not rely on fossil fuels for heat or power.  Instead, they use renewable technology in the form of solar panels and air source heat pumps, meaning that they are highly energy efficient and create as much prime energy as they need to run.

Simon Richardson, Associate Land Director at Newland Homes, comments: “This is a spectacular site with great potential, and we will now start work on creating a development befitting of this location.”

Newland Homes was established in Gloucestershire in 1991 and has a long-standing history with the Wiltshire area.  It currently has three development sites underway in the Wiltshire villages of Semington and Chapmanslade, and the market town of Westbury.
