An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Technical Department at our office in Gloucester as a Trainee Technician, assisting the Technical department in the provision of zero carbon homes on outstanding developments throughout the West.

We are looking for someone who can show that they have a desire to learn, enthusiasm for architectural technology, the ability to work within a group whilst having the confidence to work on their own with a good grasp for IT skills. Having obtained a qualification in building/architecture or membership of a professional body would be preferred but not essential as full training, development and support will be given.
Reporting to our Technical Director, the role entails the preparation of working drawings and details, working with our Technical design consultant partners to produce tender and construction packages. You will be able to work with the regulatory authorities as well as learning to troubleshoot any questions or matters arising in the day to day management of projects.

FULL TIME Trainee Technican Overview
The position of FULL TIME Trainee Technician is to assist in the production of working drawings and technical production information from our design partners as well as preparing detail drawings. The post is largely office based but you will be required to travel to our development sites as and when required. Reporting to the Associate Technical Director, you'll be working alongside the Technical team colleagues, Designers, Engineers, Site Managers and site staff, Sales and Marketing plus Customer Care teams. You'll also be liaising with external team members including design consultants, including structural engineers, acousticians, SAP assessors, renewable solution designers, M&E consultants, kitchen designers, floor, roof and stair designers and manufacturers, as well as warranty inspectors and Building Control officers.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in collating design parameters required by the LAPD for the development
- Drafting working drawings in AutoCAD using prepared stylised icons from the company library.
- Making design enquiries and assisting in analysing responses from our design consultant partners
- Cross checking the above for technical compatibility and conflict avoidance.
- Collating information for Building Regulation and Warranty providers applications
- Assisting with discussions and provide technical solutions to gain Building Regulation & warrant approval
- Attend site-based meetings, making site inspections.
- Resolving queries and assisting with all other day-to-day technical activities
Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience gained from work placements within a construction or development environment is beneficial but not essential. This is an opportunity for someone looking to start a career and has a flair to succeed within the industry.
- Educated to or working towards A level / BTEC standard or equivalent.
- Achieved or studying for a construction related qualification.
- A thorough understanding of the Building Regulations and an understanding of other applicable regulations
- Strong CAD and IT skills with the ability to adapt to new systems.
- Motivated and keen to learn new skills.
- Ability to assess and analyse information with a methodical approach and an eye for detail.
- Good communication and teamworking skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
